The Army and Sport event ended in Piazza Navona

Sunday 4 June Piazza Navona was the setting for “Army&Sport” the event organized by the Italian Army for a day dedicated to sport and prevention which ended with the tricolor flag lowered to the tune of the Mameli anthem.

The square in the center of the capital was crowded with many young people who were able to try their hand at various sports under the guidance of world-class military champions and technicians. Among the proposed activities: Athletics, fencing, boxing, judo, karate, taekwondo, weightlifting and biathlon, table tennis, military pentathlon, high jump and trampoline. There was also a Longevity Run gazebo, coordinated by Prof. Francesco Landi of the Agostino Gemelli Foundation University Hospital, where it was possible to take a free screen of the 7 main cardiovascular risk factors.

The event was also attended by government representatives such as the Minister of Defense Hon. Guido Crosetto, (who kicked off the day with the ribbon cutting) accompanied by the Undersecretary of State for Defence, Senator Isabella Rauti, and by the Head of State Army Major, Army Corps General Pietro Serino. The minister underlined: “Sport and Defense are a winning combination. Discipline, commitment and loyalty are shared values ​​between these worlds”.
