Tawny owl: it is at least three months to wait for a permit for a new grandstand (Antwerp)

Doorne

Anyone who would have dreamed that champion Antwerp could count on a new grandstand 2 by the start of the new season or the preliminary round of the Champions League will have to be disappointed. Suppose that Paul Gheysens and Tania Mintjens reach an agreement today, then construction cannot start immediately. For the simplest grandstand concept, a permit could only be obtained after at least three months before the works could start.

Because it concerns an expansion of the capacity of the Bosuil stadium, a Mobility Effects Report (MER) must also be started in addition to submitting an environmental permit.

“For the simplest concept of a grandstand with only seats, so within the current destination of day recreation, this could be done according to a project EIA, with a lead time of ninety days,” says Annick De Ridder (N-VA), Antwerp alderman. of Spatial Planning. “If people want to go for a function change and therefore offer more than just a grandstand with seats, a full Spatial Implementation Plan must be completed, including a so-called EIA plan. Then you have a lead time of about two to three years.”

In both procedures, advice must be sought from various authorities, such as the city of Antwerp and the fire brigade. For example, a negative advice could already lead to a delay.

With the construction of stands 1 and 4, Ghelamco showed that they can build quickly. “But before that can be started, some solid steps must first be taken,” explains De Ridder.
