On the 6th, 23 students from the rugby, basketball, and baseball clubs of Taiwan’s Luodong National Higher Industrial Vocational School visited Okaya Technical High School (Okaya City). This is part of a project to attract educational travel to Japan conducted by the prefecture and the prefectural tourism organization. They deepened their exchanges by exercising together with the members of each club of Okako.

The aim of this project is to foster international awareness among children and students in the prefecture through exchanges with students from overseas, and to increase the exchange population by having children and students visiting Japan experience the culture of Nagano. It was suspended from February 2020 when it became a corona disaster, but resumed from January this year.

This time, students from the same vocational school, who are in the first and second grades of Japanese high school, visited Japan. It is said that he requested a visit to Okako, who studied the same industry and is also active in sports.

A ceremony was held when the Taiwanese students arrived, and teachers from both schools and Okako students greeted each other and exchanged souvenirs. After that, we were divided into each event and enjoyed games together. In the basketball game, the two schools played against each other, and while the students played a serious game with enthusiasm, there was also a scene where they applauded when the opponent scored a shot.

Two students from the same vocational school said, “Okaku’s teamwork was great, so I learned a lot from him. Next time, I want him to come to our hometown, Yilan County.” A 17-year-old third-year Okako student said with a smile, “It was a good experience and I’m glad we were able to interact.”

Acceptance of students on educational trips to Japan will continue until the 30th in various parts of the prefecture. In the Suwa region, children from Guangfu National Elementary School in Taipei City, Taiwan are scheduled to visit Tamagawa Elementary School in Chino City on the 30th.
