Summer League debut on July 3?

If everything goes without a hitch, Victor Wembanyama will land near San Antonio on June 23. While we were expecting him at the turn for his debut in the NBA Summer League on the Las Vegas side, Wemby could start early in the Spurs jersey at the California Classic in Sacramento.

The biggest summer event for the NBA is the Las Vegas Summer League. It is also an opportunity for young draftees or players called up internationally to prove themselves and earn their place in a League roster, all in the very different setting of Sin City. But before this big party where the thirty franchises are present, there are two mini tournaments which share the shares of the cake at the beginning of July : the Summer League of Salt Lake City and the California Classic of Sacramento. And the California competition released its schedule yesterday, with Spurs as a surprise new guest in the draw.

While last year, the tournament only hosted four teams, San Antonio and Charlotte are making their debut in the Californian competition. The two teams will face off at the Golden 1 Center for their opening meeting of their Summer League campaign. A matchup between the owners of the first and second pick of Draft 2023, an opposition between Victor Wembanyama and Scoot Henderson or Brandon Millerin short, it sends a lot of heavy stuff from the beginning of July.

Thanks to this, Sacramento wants to offer a real experience for basketball fans in the region, and promising youngsters will have the opportunity to make their first NBA clash epic.
