[시사줌뉴스=보도자료] The 41st Jeongseon County People’s Day Commemoration County People’s Sports Festival held by Jeongseon County ended in great success at the Jeongseon Sports Complex and Gymnasium on June 1st.

About 2,000 people attended the event, including Jeongseon County Mayor Choi Seung-joon and Jeongseon County Chief Jeon Yeong-gi, heads of organizations and local residents.

The 41st Jeongseon County People’s Day Commemoration County People’s Sports Festival was held on the first day of the COVID-19 endemic after 40 months since January 2020.

On this day, about 2,000 soldiers and citizens participated in 9 sports including soccer, volleyball, foot volleyball, tennis, gateball, badminton, dodgeball, ground golf, and relay races at Jeongseon Sports Complex and stadiums for each event.

Prior to this, at the commemorative ceremony for Citizens’ Day, the chief monk of Cheonung Jeongamsa Temple (58, Gohan-eup) in the culture and sports sector, Nan-Young Kim (46, Gohan-eup) in the regional development sector, and Mr. Lee Sang-deok ( Sabuk-eup, 58), and Yoo Hwan-chang (68, Jeongseon-eup) in the environmental sector were awarded a plaque, and Seo Won-myeong (61, Gyeonggi-do), a former teacher at Jeongseon Information High School, who was selected as an honorary citizen in recognition of his contribution to the development of geography education in our county. He was awarded an honorary military certificate and an honorary military plaque.

In addition, snowboarder from Jeongseon and silver medalist Lee Sang-ho of the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Olympics donated 10 million won to the Jeongseon Scholarship Association.

Meanwhile, on April 17, to facilitate the smooth promotion of the event, the first official meeting was held at the meeting room of the Jeongseon-gun Sports Association, and the general affairs team heads of each town and village, festival chairperson and sports venue, presidents of 8 sports associations, and managing directors attended to discuss the details of the event. At the 2nd official meeting on May 22, all efforts were made to prepare for the event, such as confirming the matchup by eup and myeon through a lottery for the athletic meet.

To facilitate the event, each department of the military, local institutions, and social organizations shared tasks and roles. The public health center dispatched medical staff and ambulances to major stadiums, and the exemplary driver’s association, autonomous police, and volunteer fire brigade provided parking guidance and traffic support to actively participate in the successful event.
