Sam Cassell is a Boston technical staff

As reported by Shams Charania of The Athletic, Sam Cassell has reached an agreement to join the Celtics coaching staff under the direction of Joe Mazzulla. Cassell, once one of the best point guards in the NBA, has spent the past three seasons as the 76ers’ top assistant under Doc Rivers. Now, he returns to a team he knows, having been part of Boston’s roster that won the ring in 2008.

Returning to his coaching experience, he began his career in 2009 as an assistant to Flip Saunders at the Washington Wizards. After five seasons in the United States capital, he moved to the Clippers in 2014 as an assistant to Doc Rivers. When the latter left for Philadelphia in 2020 as head coach, Cassell accompanied him.
