Canada’s Bianca Andreescu will look to reach week two of the French Open for the first time in her career on Saturday morning when she faces Ukraine’s Lesia Tsurenko. The game is scheduled for 8:15 a.m., but it will be the third game of the day on the Simone-Mathieu field.

Fallen Victoria Azarenka (2-6, 6-3 and 6-4) as well as Emma Navaro (6-1 and 6-1) since the start of the tournament, Andreescu is already experiencing the best passage of her career at Roland- Garros thanks to these two victories.

Before the 2023 edition, Andreescu had never been able to pass the second round at Roland-Garros.

Saturday morning will be the third time the two players will meet, but the first on clay. Andreescu, 42nd racket in the world, will try to obtain a first success against Tsurenko, currently ranked 66th in the world.

After defeating Barbora Krejcikova in the first round, Tsurenko advanced to the third round with a forfeit win over Lauren Davis.

With a victory Saturday morning against Tsurenko, the Canadian could meet the best player in the world Iga Swiatek in the next round, if the Pole disposes of China’s Xinyu Wang in the third round.

On Friday, Andreescu won her first match of the tournament in mixed doubles, which she plays with Michael Venus.
