Real Madrid does not have to fear a departure from Luka Modrić. Fabrizio Romano reports this after reporting from Spain. Although Modrić is in possession of an expiring contract, according to Romano, the Croatian midfielder already informed his club a few weeks ago that he would stay in Madrid.
The Spanish ok diary broke the news on Thursday morning that Modrić has received a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia and that he has told Real Madrid he wants to leave. But according to Romano, none of that is true. The usually very well-informed Italian transfer specialist contradicts the rumor from Spain. If Romano is to be believed, Modrić has not accepted any offer from the Middle East and has no plans to do so. He intends to continue playing for Real Madrid for at least one more year.

The Croat, who will be a guest with his country in the Netherlands for the final round of the UEFA Nations League in less than two weeks, informed Real Madrid of his intention to stay a while ago. Modrić will sign an extended contract until mid-2024. The possible arrival of Jude Bellingham will not change his mind. Romano recently reported that Real Madrid has an oral agreement with Bellingham. The midfielder is still a Borussia Dortmund player, but it is expected that Real Madrid will come out with the Germans.
