RB Leipzig – Eberl brings tree – Sport

Sports director Max Eberl announces another prominent addition to the sporting management of RB Leipzig: the former Bundesliga coach Manuel Baum (Augsburg, Schalke) will take over the management of the Leipzig youth academy on July 1st. The 43-year-old, who has also worked in a managerial capacity in Augsburg and at the German Football Association (DFB) in the junior division, is to push ahead with RB’s youth work, which has not been fruitful so far.

Despite high investments and a modern academy, not a single player from the Leipzig youth team has made it into their own Bundesliga team. Former RB talents such as Julian Chabot, Eric Martel (both Cologne), Tom Krauß (Schalke), Ermedin Demirovic (Augsburg) and Vitaly Janelt (Brentford) are only very active at other clubs. When he took office, Eberl had promised to pay “great attention” to promoting talent.
