Rafael Nadal underwent a small surgical intervention this Friday to check the status of the injury he suffered on January 18, while competing in the Australian Open. The Spanish tennis player, who turns 37 this Saturday, recently announced that he will not compete for the remainder of the season and his intention that 2024 be the end point of his career, since his physique allow. The Spaniard has only been able to play four games this season, distributed between the United Cup (2) and the big one in Melbourne (2); one win and three losses.

His communication team transmitted this latest news this Friday night, coinciding with the match of Carlos Alcaraz from Murcia in the third round of Roland Garros. While the young number one in the ATP was rallying on the Philippe Chatrier court, the statement specified: “Rafa Nadal is undergoing a minor arthroscopic surgery to check the left psoas injury that has kept him out of the competition. Said intervention is being carried out in Barcelona by Dr. Philippon, Dr. Vilaró and Dr. Ruiz-Cotorro. Tomorrow morning we will communicate the result of it and more information about it.

Nadal recently traveled to Greece to visit one of his academy delegations. The 22-big champion went to the center located in Sani, a leading tourist destination located on the Halkidiki peninsula, and on his return to Spain he went to Barcelona. Before, the athlete has been enjoying the new routine away from the competition and participated, among other events, in a children’s exhibition at his school in Manacor.
