PSG: a mass organized in honor of Sergio Rico at the Madeleine

Signs of support and tributes to Sergio Rico are multiplying. While the second goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain is still in a “serious” but “stable” condition at the Virgen del Rocío university hospital in Seville (Spain), the parish of La Madeleine in Paris invites faithful and followers of the player to attend a service in his honor this Wednesday, June 7.

In a press release posted on its website, the parish indicates: “A mass of intercession for the recovery of Sergio Rico, goalkeeper of Paris Saint-Germain, will take place on Wednesday June 7 at 12:30 p.m. in the Church of the Madeleine”. The Church of the Madeleine houses the chapel dedicated to Our Lady of Sports.

And continues: “All the supporters of Paris Saint-Germain, and beyond, the friends and admirers of Sergio Rico, are invited to unite by their presence and by their prayer at this moment of meditation”. All are then invited to place a candle near the altar of the Virgin and to share a time of prayer, for the recovery of the goalkeeper of the capital club.

Victim of a riding accident, Sergio Rico suffered serious head injuries on Sunday May 28, while taking part in the pilgrimage organized each year at Pentecost in the Andalusian village of El Rocío, where nearly a million people were gathered to celebrate the “Virgen del Rocío”. Saturday evening, on the occasion of Paris Saint-Germain’s last match of the season, Sergio Rico was warmly supported by the entire Parc des Princes. The ultras deployed several tifos in honor of the player, when his teammates dedicated their goals to him and the title of champions of France acquired this season.
