Piacenza ends the first leg in third place in the standings

Piacenza returns to their own home and, after the bitter outcome of the challenge with the leaders seven days earlier, strikes Seveso twice (12-2 and 10-2) which allow them to close the first round in third place place.

Formation: Chacon ss, Minoia ec, Schiavoni 3b, Cufrè dh, Perez 2b (Casana ph), Calderon 1b, Contardi es (Gibson), Carsana ed, Gardenghi ric. Pitchers: Loardi (rl4 bv2 bb0 k10 pgl0), Sanna (rl4 bv3 bb3 k3 pgl1).

In the morning, Piacenza rocketed out of the starting blocks and inning after inning commanded a match that resulted in a formality and would end in the 8th minute with the interruption due to manifest superiority (12-2). The first attack, as mentioned, is long and fruitful for the red and whites who go 4-0 with singles by Cufrè and Carsana, the bases granted to Chacon, Minoia and Perez and the sacrifice sprint by Schiavoni. Seveso fails to scare the best Loardi of the season, capable in 4 innings of signing 10 of the team’s 12 eliminations at the plate. In the 3rd one point on each side, the red and white one beaten home by Carsana who in the end will be capable of a prodigious 4 out of 5. Not even the shadow of shivering because the match slips away without jolts, with the sixth red and white point in the 4th (double by Perez) and another 4 in the 5th minute which let the score enter the orbit of manifest superiority (the 10-1 matures with singles by Carsana and Gardenghi and double by Chacon). The guests lengthen their lives in the 6th minute (10-2) but only postpone an announced verdict that springs inexorably with the eleventh point, propitiated in the 7th by the triple from Minoia, and from the final twelfth to the 8th with the sprint to bases filled with Chacon.

Formation: Chacon ss, Schiavono 3b, Loardi ed (Scrivani), Cufrè dh/lan, Gibson es, Perez 2b (Casana), Minoia ec, Calderon 1b, Gardenghi ric. Pitchers: Dall’Agnese (rl6 bv4 bb0 k7 pgl1), Cufrè (rl2 bv2 bb0 k2 pgl1), Molina (rl1 bv0 bb0 k2 pgl0).

In the afternoon, the cliche of the game is more or less identical. Seveso is relegated to the role of appearance and as a leading actor continues to play Piacenza. The 5-0 after two innings is a guarantee and you don’t need to be a wizard to understand that, barring sudden cataclysms, the ending won’t be different from that of game 1. In the crackling start from Piacenza, double Chacon and triple Loardi stand out. The guests get their life complicated when, due to the carelessness of their manager who visits the mound twice in the same second half, they are forced, in terms of regulation, to remove their best man, Garavito. Things would hardly have changed but it is true that this additional factor only magnifies the superiority of the hosts who score twice more in the 4th minute (7-1 with singles by Gibson and Schiavoni). By now nobody believes in the possible comeback and Piacenza can sail towards victory with the last three points in the 7th (double from Calderon) which sentence a final of 10-2. Dall’Agnese is the winning pitcher well assisted by the relief Cufrè and in the 9th place by the returning Molina. The second leg begins on Sunday and Piacenza can do so on the strength of a third place that keeps it in the play-off race, provided that the inconstancy that marked the performance of the first leg ends up becoming a bad memory.
