Ordizia: Today begins the Basketball Championship between squads

The XL Basketball Championship between squads starts today with the dispute of the first games. This year 22 teams have signed up and have been divided into four groups: two of six teams and two of five. In this edition, the winner of last year, Ze Koino, will be missing, although the runners-up will be, Mokela. The matches will be played at the Barandiarán Arena.

The first three matches of Group A will kick off the championship, today Sunday from 7:00 p.m. In the first match Pukraus and Gigantes Tudela will face each other, at 8:00 p.m. Sewer will play against Birrako, and, finally, at 9:00 p.m. Gumper and Embiel.

Tomorrow, Monday, it will be the turn of the teams in Group B, with each match starting at the same time. In the first match, Tzulo and Txolkago Bulls will play, then Izbi and Sukajubar II will face each other, and the last match will be between Dawer and Gauss.

The matches will be divided into two parts of 25 minutes. Time will not stop until entering the last 3 minutes of the game. From the seventh personal will be given two free throws. After finishing the group stage, the first two teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals. Each victory will be worth three points and a tie one point, and once the league is over in the event of a tie between three teams, the basket-average will decide.
