By finishing third in Ligue 1 this season, OM will have to go through the third preliminary round of the Champions League. The Marseillais are already aware of the opponents they may encounter.
This weekend, almost all the championships have ended, OM, qualified via their third place in Ligue 1, have therefore learned who their potential opponents will be in Champions League third qualifying round.
The potential opponents of the Marseillais are the qualified in 3ème tour : The Storm Graz TSC (Austria) and Backa Topola (Serbia). LOON being seeded, they still avoid the more upscale clubs: Braga (Portugal), PSV Eindhoven (Netherlands) and Glasgow Rangers (Scotland).
Marseille can also meet the winners of the confrontations of the 2nd round which are: The SK Dnipro (Ukraine), le KRC Genk (Belgium), the Servette FC (Switzerland) and the Panathinaikos (Greece).
The first leg of the 3rd preliminary round will be held on August 8 or 9 and August 15 for the return match.

Not an end in itself
emerge victorious from this 3rd preliminary round does not, however, guarantee a ticket for the group stages of the LDC. Winning the double confrontation simply offers qualification for the play-offs, which are the last stage before being able to access them.
In the event of victory, the Olympians will therefore have to face the other winners of the 3rd round in the play-offs to obtain their final ticket.
