NBA Finals: Nikola Jokic spoke of the “most difficult series of his life” against the Miami Heat

The Serbian star Nikola Jokic ruled out this Wednesday that his Denver Nuggets are favorites in the NBA Finalsand insisted that they were preparing for the “toughest game” of his life against the Miami Heat.

Denver receives Miami this Thursday in the first game of the Finals, with the aim of getting its first NBA champion ring, in which it has participated since 1976.

Bookies have installed the Western Conference champions as the favorites to win the series against an eighth-seeded Miami team that only made the postseason via play-in.

However, Jokic, the Nuggets star, said Wednesday that he is paying little attention to Las Vegas betting predictions.

“I think we are not the favourites,” Jokic told reporters. “I think in the Finals there are no favorites.”

“This is going to be the most difficult game of our lives, and we know it. We are prepared for that,” he added.

There is speculation that Miami will give Bam Adebayo the responsibility of holding off two-time MVP Jokic, who has averaged 29.9 points, 13.3 rebounds and 10.3 assists in his 15 playoff games this year.

However,

Jokic emphasized that Denver’s strength was in its team ethic, challenging the idea that a one-on-one duel will decide the outcome of the first game.

“It’s not Bam against me or whatever, whoever,” Jokic clarified. “It’s Denver against Miami. Just because I think we have a similar style of play, we’re getting everyone involved. We like to play team basketball.”.

The Serb added that “it won’t be me against him or anybody against anybody. It will be Miami against Denver. I think that’s why it’s going to be interesting.”
