Quebecer Matthew Bergeron signed his first NFL contract with the Atlanta Falcons on Tuesday.

The second-round pick in the most recent draft was the only player in this class not yet agreed with the Georgia organization. The four-year pact is worth a total of $8.97 million.

The Victoriaville native was drafted 38th overall after impressing at Syracuse University. The offensive lineman is now expected to play as a guard, a position he has never held before, the team said in a statement. He might even get the starting job on the left.

“Thanks for the opportunity! I still don’t believe it!” reacted Bergeron on his Twitter account following the announcement of his contract.

The product of the Filons du Cégep de Thetford Mines made 39 starts in the NCAA during his four-year career.
