Oberhausen.
9: 5 against Gladbach brings the leadership change in the 2nd Judo Bundesliga. Everything is at stake in the last home fight after the holidays.

To the Judo Team Holten succeeds in the – next – sensation: With a 9:5 home win, the JTH displaces the JC Moenchengladbach from the top of the table and takes the lead in the 2. Judo-Bundesliga. With that, the Holtener can on the last day of fighting after the summer break on August 26th in case of a victory against Gelsenkirchen rise in the 1. Bundesliga create

Holten is in seventh heaven after the weekend and is reaching for the stars: “If we fight in a draw, we’re second. If we lose, we end up in fourth place. But if we win against Gelsenkirchen, we would automatically be eligible for promotion as first and second division champions,” explains JT Holten-Coach Ralf Najdowski the starting position before the Bundesliga final at the end of August.

This was preceded by an exciting day of fighting in front of a home crowd in the Günther Stolz Hall and a season that is characterized by a “constant team performance in coaching, in setting up and in delivering.” The first bang of the day came at the beginning Jason Wongwho had a weight class raised and -66kg competed for Holten.

After 1:11 minutes he managed to win after an outstanding effort with Yoko-gake. “That was the can opener for everything else. Tactically, it was clever to upgrade Jason in order to crack Gladbach, who are masters of strategic formation themselves,” Najdowski summed up.

First nothing, then everything

The judo team Holten then got through -90, -73 and +100 Lars Gajda, Denny Coppers and Marcel Lauer in residue. Nevertheless, there was praise from the coach: “Chapeau in front of Marcel and Lars. Lars has only been training since Thursday after a summer flu, Marcel has been getting fit again individually in the last few weeks after a long break due to illness. He ended up putting himself on the ground in a stupid situation that doesn’t suit him, but he’s a wonderful alternative to Max worlds. Denny was nothing in the first match, but after that everything.”

First it was though Christian Beckmann (-100), who turned things around. After only eleven seconds he caught his opponent from Gladbach with Tomonage. He not only carried away the audience, but also his teammates. “Christian became a great support for the team at the end of last season,” said Najdowski.

With fierce determination and a great presence on the edge of the mat, he always whips the boys up, keeps them from giving up and ensures that tension and concentration remain high, and also sets impulses in terms of line-up.

This is not without consequences: the Holteners came back before the break and went away with victories Janson Wong (-60) – literally in the last second at four minutes of fight time with waza-ari scoring – and Justin Capps (-81) with Waza-ari-awasete-ippon leading 4:3.

Everything is possible on the final day

In the second half of the season it was again the strong Wong brothers Jason and Janson who -66 and -60 caused enthusiasm, even if Janson finally had to give up his fight. But his brother Jason (-66) scored with “pure will” in the golden score after more than five minutes of fighting.

Also for Cevin Borgelwhich came -90 for Gajda, it went into the Golden Score. “For over a minute, Cevin only got a one on the omme. Kagermanov is an unpleasant opponent who does dirty, very powerful judo and constantly wants to provoke Shidos, but then Cevin came into the fight. The hall was killer and I think that did the rest,” said Najdowski, impressed.

In his second fight, Koppers was also alert and active and gave his team a 7:3 lead. The substitute for Lauer (+100). Christian Struck lost his encounter, but Beckmann and Kappes won again very confidently to the 9:5 final score.

That’s what the people of Holten have to deal with last day of fighting It was up to you to win the title at the end of August – it doesn’t seem impossible in front of a home crowd.
