Ninety minutes and a victory separate Mario Ormaechea’s team from glory in the second leg of the third and final tie for the jump to the fourth national division. After the draw (1-1) harvested in Zaragoza, a victory over SD Ejea today would complete a historic cycle for the club from the municipality of Sant Joan with what would be the second consecutive promotion, after having opened this year with outstanding in national category.

La Penya Independent is facing a great opportunity to promote the project promoted by the board led by Toni Curuné and demonstrate that the commitment and effort made by all the members of the club are rewarded.

Everyone in the orange squad has earned promotion and especially their coach, Mario Ormaechea, to whom football owes a jump in category after the troubles he had in the past with the Peña Deportiva de Santa Eulària.

High intensity and pressure

In sports, the Ibizan team showed last week in Ejea that they have plenty of potential to achieve their goal. In the first 20 minutes he overwhelmed the Aragonese, but forgave and could only sign a tie that leaves open the tie for today’s duel, in which midfielder Vicent Albert will be out due to suspension.

SD Ejea, who already played last season in the Second RFEF, finished the Third RFEF group 17 league in fourth position behind Huesca B, Barbastro and Robres. In the promotion phase, they beat Almudévar in the Aragonese final 4-2 on aggregate, after losing 2-1 in the first leg and winning 3-0 in extra time this weekend. In the first round they had eliminated Tamarite, also in extra time, after signing two 2-1 results and going through the round for the best league ranking.

For their part, the Ibizans were runners-up in the League and qualified for the last round after beating Santanyí 1-0, also in extra time (they lost 2-1 in the first leg). Previously, they left Poblense (2-3, 1-1) on the road.

Appeal to the fans to fill the Municipal

The president of the Penya Independent, Toni Curuné, appealed to the island’s fans to support the team this midday at the Municipal de Sant Miquel, where admission will be free.

“It’s a very important game. We have been fighting for this for a long time, it is the second year in a row that we have played a final for promotion and we face it with the peace of mind that we have done things well. We hope that a lot of fans come to the field and that it will be a great day », he indicates.
