This Sunday the Judo session was held at the Youth Parapan American Games in Bogotá, Colombia. Alejandro Kunkel achieved second place and hung the silver medal after three fights and losing the final by just one wasari.

The blind judoka from our city and representative of the Alfredo Acosta Integral Judo Center (Cijaa) competed in three fights, winning two and losing one in the male category up to 66 kilograms.

In the first instance he beat the Chilean Yabran Alonso by a wasari and in second place he did the same against Neicel Betancourt from Cuba by Ipón. In the final he lost to the Chilean Johan Herrera by wasari.

Kunkel expressed himself after his silver medal saying that “the fighting experience was very nice for being my first international tournament. The tournament was very nice. I feel very happy because I was very calm in all the fights. I have nothing to reproach myself with the final because I know what I did well, what I didn’t do and why I lost it”.

In addition, he did not forget his people and thanked his parents, sister and grandparents and also his Cijaa colleagues for all their support.

It should be noted that Alfredo Acosta was part of the Argentine delegation as coach. The four Argentine judokas got the silver medal.
