Judo: the Grand Prix of Dushanbe ends in apotheosis in Tajikistan

The first Dushanbe Judo Grand Prix ended in a grandiose atmosphere, captivating the attention of the Tajik public, thus revealing the enthusiasm aroused by judo in the country.

Spectators of all ages filled the arena, eager to see their heroes in action.

Tajikistan shone with another victory in the category under 90kg, carrying the national colors high thanks to the triumph of Komronshokh Ustopiriyana champion with unwavering determination.

A Passionate Victory

The experience proved to be unforgettable for the fans who had the privilege of seeing their hero evolve on the tatami.

Under watchful eyes, President of Tajikistan Judo Federation, Ismail Mahmadzoirpresented the medals to the athletes, accompanied by a national anthem that rocked the whole arena.

Expressing his gratitude to the supporters, the local champion said: “Tajiks love judo so much! It gave me a lot of energy for the final match. Thank you all.”

A high level show

In the category of less than 78 kg, the young judoka Anna Monta Olek had a memorable day, winning the gold medal in an all-German final.

The medals were awarded by Jeon Ki-Young, IJF Refereeing Director.

The German judoka shared her excitement saying: “It was great, lots of noise, better than a lot of arenas I’ve fought in before. I liked the atmosphere. They know what you’re doing and they understand it, I like it a lot That.”

Triumphs and Awards

In the -100 kg category, Matvey Kanikovskiy won the gold medal after his victory against Niaz Bilalov. This honor was presented to him by Abdullo Rakhmonzoda, President of the Youth and Sports Committee of Tajikistan.

As for the category of +78 kgit is the experienced Rochele Nunes who triumphed against the German judoka Samira Bouizgarne. The medals were awarded by IJF sports director Skander Hachicha.

All eyes were on the +100 kg finalwhere world number one Tajik Temur Rakhimov , was expected. However, the local champion could not win against his opponent Tamerlan Bahsaev.
