As is tradition, a few weeks before the start of an Olympic Cycle event, the Dominican Olympic Committee announced the athletes who will be the flag bearers of the Dominican delegation for the Central American and Caribbean Games in San Salvador, which will begin on February 23. this month.

José Miguel Robiou, chief of mission of the San Salvador Games, together with the other members of the headquarters, released the news to the media.

It is recalled that the Dominican Republic will be a sub-headquarters and will mount seven sports disciplines.
Miguelina Hernández, boxing, and Medickson del Orbe, judo, were named as the flag bearers of the delegation that will represent the country at the Central American and Caribbean Games El Salvador 2023.

Miguelina, Olympic athlete

The boxer, Miguelina Hernández, is an athlete who defended the national colors at the Tokyo Olympics, while Del Orbe is currently leading the qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics in the minus 81 kilos category.

The meeting, held in the Juan Ulises García Saleta room of the COD, was chaired by José Miguel Robiou, head of mission; Juan Febles Dalmasí, technical director; Miguel Hernández, deputy head of the sports that will be held in the country, and José Paulino, director of PARNI, and who coordinates the delivery of the clothing.

Robiou cited several points to take into account, such as the visa for Haitian, Cuban and Venezuelan nationals, as well as the corresponding permit for military personnel, the covid and yellow fever vaccine card, as well as punctuality in departure for the airport, which will be from the Olympic Center.

Paulino, for his part, informed that the clothing kit will be delivered from next week to the delegates of each sport in the Ministry of Sports.

Febles Dalmasí said that the mission headquarters, with 10 people, will leave for El Salvador on Sunday and that the final registration of the delegation will be made at the meeting next Tuesday of mission heads.

He said that the second group to travel to El Salvador will be the medical part, on the 19th of this month, and that the first group of athletes, 26 in total, will also leave that same day.
