Javier Hernández, Galaxy striker, suffered an injury to his right leg for which he was taken out on a stretcher at minute 27 of the game corresponding to the US Open Cup quarterfinals that was played this Wednesday against Real Salt Lake who won by 3 -2 to the Los Angeles team.

Apparently, when reaching for a ball, the Mexican striker bent his knee, without making contact with any other player, and immediately fell to the grass. With an obvious grimace of pain, Hernández requested the entry of medical assistance to the field. The striker raised his hands to his forehead while he was examined by the team’s medical staff and a few moments later the stretcher entered to take him off the field.

Hernandez was replaced by Dejan Joveljic.

Real Salt Lake prevailed with goals from Damir Kreilach (19′, 45’+6′ PEN) and Jefferson Savarino (51′), while Gastón Brugman (82′ PEN) and Douglas Costa (84′) scored for the Galaxy.
