Ibrahimovic will leave AC Milan at the end of the season

AC Milan have announced the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, 41, within a few days.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic will leave AC Milan, aged 41, after the last league match of the season against Hellas Verona on Sunday, the Italian club announced on Saturday.

«Tomorrow evening after the last match of the season… AC Milan will say goodbye to Zlatan Ibrahimovic after a brief ceremony“, writes the Milanese club in a press release. “AC Milan would like to thank Zlatan for the wonderful times we spent together“, continues the club.

Ibrahimovic, 41, returned to Milan in 2019 and was crowned Italian champion last season. But due to repeated injuries, he was practically unable to play this season. He returned to competition in February after having surgery on his left knee in May 2022.

The Swede has started just one game this season, in March when they won 3-1 at Udinese. He then became the oldest goalscorer in Serie A history.

He then suffered a calf injury during a pre-match warm-up in April, and has since finished the season on the sidelines.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic won his first Italian league title with Milan in 2011.

Also passed by Ajax Amsterdam, Juventus, Inter Milan, FC Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United, he has many league titles to his credit: two in the Netherlands, five in Italy ( three with Inter, two with Milan), one in Spain and four in France.

Between his time at Manchester United and his return to Milan, he wore the colors of the Los Angeles Galaxy from March 2018 to November 2019.

Before the 38th and last day of Serie A this weekend, AC Milan is fourth in the standings and assured of qualification for the Champions League next season.
