How is the NBA final between Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat going?

The Denver Nuggets look like they’ve been in this situation before. There’s an unmistakable grit to these Nuggets, who are just one win away from their first NBA title and could lift the Larry O’Brien Trophy on Monday night when the Finals return to Denver for Game 5. Their stars have shone in their first appearance in the series for the title. His supporting players have delivered. They haven’t had some colossal mistake. And even in the run-up to a championship, they refuse to change.

“We need one more win,” said two-time MVP Nikola Jokic. So are the Nuggets. simple. Cash. forceful.

With Jokic and Jamal Murray leading the charge, and with practically a different player every night dressing as the third hero for the Nuggets, they have Miami in serious trouble. They have a 3-1 lead in the Finals and a chance to play two of the next three games in Denver … if necessary.

“We have an opportunity to play a super competitive game in a great environment,” Heat coach Erik Spoelstra said. “That will be an amazing environment. Our boys are made for this. They love. Yes, we understand what the narrative will be, but that’s the way it is with our team.”

The story says that the series is practically finished; only one team in NBA history has managed to overcome such a deficit in the Finals, the Cleveland Cavaliers against the Golden State Warriors in 2016. Heat forward Kevin Love played with that Cleveland team.

“Forget about the game,” Love said. “It’s one possession, one quarter, half for half. Achieve it as necessary and we’ll figure out the rest.”

It will be a daunting task.

The Nuggets have limited Miami to less than 100 points three times in the first four games; those were Denver’s three wins in the series. They are 9-1 at home, their only loss coming in Game 2 of the series, when Miami pulled off a huge comeback in which Jamal Murray had a chance to tie the game with a 3-pointer as the clock expired.

“That’s what I always tell my guys. Winning a championship is going to be the hardest thing they ever have to do,” said Heat forward Udonis Haslem, a three-time champion whose 20-season career ends after the series ends. “People only talk about the parade and lifting the trophy. They don’t talk about the road, sleepless nights, frustration, tears of pain. It is not talked about and that is part of everything ”.

Denver doesn’t talk about a parade, as some city officials did in Dallas during the 2006 Finals, when the Mavericks went up to 2-0 over Miami and the Heat won the next four games. The Nuggets don’t make that mistake. In fact, they do not make any mistakes. Every detail is covered, including running out the shot clock on multiple possessions in the final minutes of Game 4, just to shorten the game and limit Miami’s chances of a comeback.

“We have done our job. But we’re not going to celebrate like we’ve done something,” Nuggets coach Michael Malone said. “We know we have to go home and turn off the TV, the radio, not read the papers, not listen to anyone tell you how great you are. We remain true to our identity.”
