French Open 2023 – Novak Djokovic relies on nanotechnology in Roland-Garros: Superstar plays with Taopatch

Whenever Novak Djokovic changes his shirt at the French Open, you can see it: In the middle of the superstar’s chest is a patch that holds a taopatch.

According to the manufacturer Tao Technologies from Italy, it is a “nanotechnological device that converts the body’s heat into light, which in turn is sent to the nervous system”.

The body comes back into balance. In addition, a Taopatch can contribute to “increasing athletic performance and concentration”.

It is not surprising that Djokovic is at least testing the Taopatch, says his former coach Boris Becker at Eurosport. “Novak is always up to date with the latest sports medicine and always tries to keep his body fit and regenerate quickly, he is now 36,” said the three-time Wimbledon champion, “but faith is the strongest muscle”.

Mischa Zverev exclusively: “Typical” for Djokovic

It is difficult to verify what effect the patch has, but Mischa Zverev can also understand that Djokovic is trying out the device. “That’s typical of him. It’s good and healthy because we’re evolving, otherwise we’d still be playing with wooden racquets or white tennis balls,” said the former Australian Open quarter-finalist at Eurosport.

Djokovic understands his body, “so he can experiment because he knows what’s happening to him. There are many tennis players or athletes who just say: ‘Okay, what should I do?’ They never really think about it. But Novak is extremely intelligent in that regard. That’s why he’s playing tennis so well at 36, because you can’t do that if you don’t deal with your body.”

Djokovic: “The biggest secret of my career”

Djokovic himself initially commented on the topic of Taopatch in a humorous way and drew a comic comparison. “I really liked ‘Ironman’ as a kid, so I tried to imitate it,” said the Belgrade native at a press conference in Paris.

His team provides him with “highly efficient nanotechnology. It helps me to do my best on the pitch.” And Djokovic even went a step further: “That’s the biggest secret of my career, otherwise I probably wouldn’t be sitting here.”
