Freiburg’s players Keitel, Wagner and Jeong in VfB sights

The farewell of VfB keeper Florian Müller to SC Freiburg is becoming more and more apparent. At the same time, the Stuttgart team kept an eye on three players from their rivals from Baden.

Supposed to have aroused the interest of VfB Stuttgart like two other Freiburgers: Yannik Keitel

The receipt of the cash register, which was constantly being delayed and finally bagged at the last minute, has severely slowed down personnel planning in Stuttgart. A lot of things are still in the preliminary stages and are neither ready to be announced nor published. Some things have not yet been concretely tackled.

Only the commitments of Maximilian Mittelstädt from Hertha BSC for around 500,000 euros and that of the Serbian striker Jovan Milosevic (17), for whom VfB transferred around 1.2 million euros to FK Vojvodina Novi Sad, are booked on the credit side. In addition, there is the planned return campaign by Matej Maglica (24). The former VfB defensive talent can return from FC St. Gallen for around 450,000 euros via a buyback option. The central defender was only recently seen at the Stuttgart office.

Small squad change is imminent

On the other side, it is only certain that the expiring contracts of Tanguy Coulibaly and Antonis Aidonis will not be extended and that the purchase option for Tiago Tomas for 15 million euros excludes the attacker from staying further. However, the Portuguese seems to stay in the Bundesliga. According to kicker information, VfL Wolfsburg is dealing with the offensive man. As is well known, Florian Müller is drawn to Freiburg, whose move to SC Freiburg for around 1.5 million euros is becoming more and more apparent.

In this regard, there is logically contact between the Swabian and Baden authorities.

In terms of Yannik Keitel (23), Robert Wagner (19) and Woo-Yeong Jeong (23), on the other hand, not (yet). Nevertheless, the three belong to the list of interesting players for VfB. The defensive midfielder Keitel, whose contract ends in 2024, has so far been denied a big breakthrough. However, he is held in high esteem. A contract extension has not yet been specifically discussed. One awaits his return from the upcoming U-21 European Championship.

Jeong and Hoeneß already know each other

Also on the list is South Korea’s national player Woo-Yeong Jeong, who has made 85 Bundesliga appearances without a regular spot. The attacking midfielder and VfB coach Sebastian Hoeneß know each other from their days together at Bayern Munich. Robert Wagner (19) is at home in defensive midfield and has already played four Bundesliga games.

The U-20 national player is a top performer in the Freiburg third division team, with the professionals and should be brought to Bundesliga maturity in sight. Accordingly, there are no plans to sell the young professional. At best on loan, which shouldn’t be worth considering without a corresponding purchase option for VfB.
