Four Sorianos in the European Championship of badminton teams

The four Sorianos included in the senior Spanish team are already in Harleem, in the Netherlands, to play the Nations Cup, the name of the European Championship by countries.

They are the players of the Soria-CS24 Badminton Club Santiago Martínez and José Carlos Pérez and the Burgenses of the AD89 Sergio Latorre and Cristina Puebla, from among the list of thirty-nine Spaniards chosen by the technical direction of the Spanish Federation.

Coincidentally, the teammates from the Soria club will defend Spanish interests in the +45 category, while both players from El Burgo de Osma will do so in +40.

The format of the competition is designed so that the confrontations between the national teams will be exclusively in the modalities of doubles and mixed doubles.

The Spanish team has been framed in group A with England, number one seed, and with France. Subsequently, and after the results of these matches, the matches will be played to define the final classification.

The Spanish aspirations to climb to the podium are scarce given the potential of the countries of central and northern Europe that with a greater tradition, have a high level with respect to the rest of the teams.

The leadership of the Sorianos is guaranteed since they will be part of all the matches that are played. The four have scheduled a small training session at the impressive venue of the event, the facilities of the Badminton club Duinwijck, which in its seventy-fifth anniversary, will host the competition.

The province of Soria is one of the most represented in the Spanish team and the number could have been higher since several Sorianos have remained as reserve players.
