Football Manager Announces Inclusion of Women’s Football in FM25

When Football Manager announced in 2021 the inclusion of women’s football, but did not give a date, there was a high expectation of when this could happen. Almost two years later, we have a date: women’s football will arrive in the world’s most famous football manager game in Football Manager 2025, which will be released in late 2024.

It’s part of a long process of changes announced by Sports Interactive on the game’s website, which will have a 20th anniversary edition on FM24 and undergo a complete revolution on FM25. Women’s football is one of the many changes the Football Manager series will undergo. FM24, which will be released later this year, will be the last one on this platform, before a general overhaul, from graphics to interface, passing through other aspects as well, which will be done in FM25.

Women’s football from the reformulated FM25

“The FM25 cycle will see the long-awaited introduction of women’s football to the Football Manager series. Before going into detail, I want to acknowledge that since we announced our commitment to introduce women’s football in July 2021, we have not given any further public updates on the project, which has led to speculation and some frustration,” says Miles Jacobson, Director of Football Manager , in the ad, made on the game’s website.

“The facts are that we’ve made really good progress in some areas, which includes research, the game engine and translation. But in other areas not enough progress has been made, many of which are legal issues. Women’s football deserves to be the best it can be when it launches and the new graphics engine will help deliver that,” continues Jacobson.

“Supporting us in bringing this project to life are some of the key people within women’s football who are passionate about helping us deliver the most authentic experience possible. We look forward to announcing some of these in a future development update blog,” continued the FM director.

What will women’s football be like in Football Manager?

One of the important topics is to understand how women’s football will work. As of 2021, Sports Interactive has made it clear that there will not be a separate “Men’s Soccer Mode” and “Women’s Soccer Mode”. You will be able to move from a male team to a female one and vice versa, just like in real life.

“We have NO interest in making an independent version of FM women’s football. What we are doing is adding women’s football to FM. One sport, one game. FM players will be able to move from managing a men’s team to a women’s team and back. Women’s football will be part of the living, breathing world that makes up each of your FM saves; this world will just be a lot bigger and a little bit more varied,” explained Jacobson in 2021.

“We also know that adding women’s football to Football Manager will cost millions and that the short-term return it delivers will be minimal. But that is not the point,” said the director. “There is no hiding that there is currently a glass ceiling for women’s football and we want to do what we can to help break it. We believe in equality for all and want to be part of the solution.”

“We know our voice is very powerful and we can use it for good. In the longer term, as women’s football grows in popularity, financial rewards can follow, but right now, we are embarking on this journey because we know it is the right thing to do.”

How to buy Football Manager in Brazil?

The Football Manager game has not been officially sold in Brazil since 2017 due to licensing issues, but that does not mean that it is not possible to buy it in Brazil completely legally. You can buy Football Manager 2023 in Brazil on PC, Xbox or Nintendo Switch with peace of mind. The version for Playstation 5 will require you to have an account abroad to be able to buy, but it is also possible, but it takes more work.
