Final in Berlin: Hasebe starts in the DFB Cup final – Schlager on the bench

Status: 03.06.2023 7:19 p.m

Eintracht Frankfurt’s head coach Oliver Glasner relies on Makoto Hasebe’s routine in the DFB Cup final. In the evening (8 p.m., live in the audio full report on sportschau.de), the 39-year-old Japanese can play against defending champion RB Leipzig from the start. Glasner starts a chain of three with Tuta, Evan Ndicka and Hasebe in the centre.

In midfield, Sebastian Rode returns to the starting XI after an injury. “That’s extremely important. Seppl brings structure into the game with his experience and quality. He’s a very important player for us,” said sporting director Markus Krösche.

In addition to Randal Kolo Muani, ex-world champion Mario Götze and Daichi Kamada will start on the offensive. The Dane Jesper Lindström initially sits outside. “I think Jesper can make a big impact off the bench. He can come off the bench and score a crucial goal,” said Krösche.

As expected, Leipzig coach Marco Rose has Christopher Nkunku, Timo Werner, Dani Olmo and Dominik Szoboszlai on the offensive. On the double six, Amadou Haidara was given preference over Xaver Schlager. Central defender Josko Gvardiol is not eligible to play after a red card in the semifinals at SC Freiburg. Lukas Klostermann starts for him alongside captain Willi Orban.
