Endrick makes history in the Libertadores

Endrick has done it again. Palmeiras’ talent inscribes his name in the history of the Copa Libertadores and he becomes the youngest goalscorer in the competition in the history of ‘Verdao’. Endrick, who was going through a bad scoring streak, ended a drought of more than a month without scoring. The striker has the approval of Abel Ferreira, the main supporter in the first season as a professional of the future Real Madrid player.

“I am grateful for playing in the Libertadores, even more so for scoring. I was able to play entering the end, I wanted to enter the green and score a goal. My last goal here was in the Paulista final. I am very grateful to my teammates”, Endrick would say as soon as the game ended. “The team is prepared, it always knows its strengths. We have shown it in a match. It doesn’t matter who we are going to play against in the next phase, there are still games left, we want to be first in the group. We will be prepared for everything”.

Four minutes from the end of the game that faced Palmeiras against Barcelona SC for the fifth date of the group stage of the Copa Libertadores, Endrick would manage to stamp his name in the annals of the competition. The striker would manage to put the chilli pepper to an anthological comeback of Abel Ferreira’s pupils over the Ecuadorian team. And it is that the ‘Verdao’ had seen how the gold and scarlet managed to take the advantage at half-time thanks to a brace from Francisco Fydriszewski. In the second part, the Brazilian champion would turn the game around thanks to Portillo, Piquerez and Guimaraes, but the whole show would be taken by Endrick.

Abel Ferreira would bring on Endrick at minute 84 with the hope of being able to train him in a competition as tough as the Libertadores. Less than two minutes later, the talent of Taguatinga would manage to open his box as a scorer in the most important competition in South America with just 16 years, 10 months and 18 days. The skilful forward has managed to surpass contemporary stars such as Rodrygo (17 years, 2 months and 6 days), Ronaldo Nazario (17 years, 5 months and 15 days) or Vinicius Jr. (17 years, 8 months and 3 days)..

Endrick did not accumulate a good streak in front of goal. The striker has barely added a hundred minutes in the last month of the nine games that Palmeiras has played in all competitions. His last goal with ‘Verdao’ dated from May 7 in the team’s victory against Goiás. In the last four games the striker had barely managed to add 15 minutes with the ‘Verdao’ first team. The fact of roaring again can restore the confidence of a player called to mark an era.
