Emiliano Carrera Gutiérrez was placed as the best badminton player in the country within the U15 category, by winning the gold medal within the Conade 2023 National Games.
The player, who also qualified a few weeks ago for the Pan American event to be held in Peru in July, took the tournament from end to end after beating four rivals during the different stages of the event that took place on the fields of the Dorados Oaxtepec club.
Carrera Gutiérrez, who had won the bronze medal in the last edition of the Conade Nationals 2022, now he dressed in glory to get his first gold metal Within the maximum sporting fair of the country at the minor youth level.
It is the first gold medal that has been historically achieved by a Morelense in this disciplinewhich has a little more than five years of work in the entity.
To reach the gold metal, Carrera Gutiérrez defeated Duan Axel Lada from Veracruz in the first round in the round of 16; then in the quarterfinals he defeated Jesús Santiago Gaytán from Nuevo León, and in the semifinals the victim was Fernando Martínez from Aguascalientes.
Already in the grand final, the one from Temixco brought out his best game to beat the hydrocálido Rodrigo Sánchez, in a game of great intensity and precision in the blows and movements of the Morelense who ended up winning in two sets with a marked superiority of 21 to 13 and 21 to eight.
Finals over, the award ceremony was held where two couples from Morelos also received bronze medals in the U15 category:
- One of them in the men’s branch also formed by Emiliano Carrera himself and Pablo Aguilar, repeating the performance of the Conade Nationals in 2022.
- The other was in mixed doubles made up of the couple of Luis Santino Vázquez and Dana Isabela Jacobo.
Both Zapatista land pairs fell against the teams from Aguascalientes and Nuevo León respectively in the semifinal round.
