Double challenge for the rossoblùs

ROVIGO – Home debut in the Poule Salvation of Serie A for Itas Mutua Baseball Softball Club Rovigo. Longbridge 2000 Bologna arrives on Sunday on the diamond of via Vittorio Veneto for the double challenge valid as the second round of Group L. In reality, thanks to the rest foreseen in the first round, the rossoblù’s race towards permanence in the top baseball league had already begun last weekend with the unfortunate Intergirone match against Palfinger Reggio Emilia. The two narrow victories captured by the Emilians left the team from Polesine empty-handed, which will try to get back on track promptly on Sunday trying to exploit the field factor. In fact, the calendar will see Itas Mutua tread the friendly diamond on only four occasions in the whole path that puts salvation up for grabs: two matches in Rovigo and three away matches both in the Intergirone and in Poule Salvezza’s Group L. Making the most of home games therefore becomes a priority for the team coached by Fidel Reinoso. A mission to pursue as early as tomorrow against a difficult opponent, who ended up in the rossoblù group after the last recoveries of the first phase of the season.

Despite the double misstep, positive signals were not lacking against Reggio Emilia, especially from the mound. In addition to the usual Crepaldi and Javier Diaz, the young players Giacomo Taschin, Buin and Greggio also proved to be solid, precious players able to compensate for Pietrogrande’s absence due to injury. An orderly test in defense will need to be accompanied by a good intensity from the batting box to find the points that, hopefully, can move the rossoblù standings and keep alive not only the goal of staying in Serie A, but also of finishing the group in summit to earn the top seed title next season.
