BBL: Bayern professional Paul Zipser to Heidelberg? SPORT BILD says what’s up | sports mix

Bayern are out of the playoffs. Immediately after the 0:3 debacle in the semifinals of the Basketball Bundesliga, coach Andrea Trinchieri (54) made it public that he would not continue with the cup winners.

Is the next well-known departure now threatening?

The basketball magazine “BIG” reports that Paul Zipser (29) is about to move to the MLP Academics Heidelberg.

The national player (43 caps for Germany) was born in Heidelberg and played for his home club at the beginning of his career. Together with Alex Vogel, who is now the athletic director of the MLP Academics.

Vogel to SPORT BILD about an upcoming commitment from Zipser: “I can’t confirm that. Although Paul has a close connection to the club, there is no truth to the rumour.”

And further: “You have to see what the future will bring. But as of now, that cannot be confirmed.”

Zipser’s contract with Bayern runs until 2024. He signed it in July 2021 – a month after undergoing emergency surgery.

That’s the rumor about the Bayern professional Zipser

A benign tumor had caused a cerebral hemorrhage. Zipser survived the operation without any permanent damage, telling the Bayern podcast months later: “It was a shitty spot on the ear, on the cerebellum. There are just several centers that are in charge of different things; for me it was coordination.”

Zipser fought back and even overcame a pulmonary embolism shortly after the operation. And celebrated his Bundesliga comeback 271 days later.

He averaged 4.0 points and 1.7 rebounds per game this season. His best value was 14 points in the 80:63 against Medi Bayreuth in the quarter-finals of the cup.

From 2016 to 2018, the forward was under contract with the Chicago Bulls in the NBA and made a total of 104 appearances for the club. He averaged 4.7 points and 2.6 rebounds.

Via San Pablo Burgos (Spain) he returned to Germany in 2019, to Bayern, from where he switched to the NBA.

Zipser himself responded to the rumor on Sunday afternoon, writing on Twitter: “No club has been spoken to except FC Bayern.”
