On the occasion of the men’s quarter-finals of the Singapore Open, the Japanese Naraoka faced the Chinese Shi.
Shi was surprised when facing Naraoka. Indeed, the Chinese was favorite of the match but lost heavily in two sets 21/14, 21/16. Naraoka, number 4 BWF, was very strong in attack and committed very few fouls against number 9 BWF. He therefore qualifies for the semi-finals where he will face Antonsen or Lee depending on the result of their match.
