Alexander Zverev wins easily against Alex Molcan in the 2nd round

Alexander Zverev was quick to defeat Slovak Alex Molcan (6-4, 6-2, 6-1) Thursday in the second round of Roland-Garros. The semi-finalist of the 2022 edition, who fell from 3rd to 22nd place in the world, after his spectacular ankle injury against Rafael Nadal Porte d’Auteuil last year, which cost him seven months of absence, swallowed the games without a hitch to climb to the third round.

The scenario repeated itself from the start of the second act, the German then sent a clear message: no question of spending too much time in the arena this evening. He stunned Molcan with winning serves and long crossed, uncrossed strikes. Zverev is a puncher, but he also knows how to handle the amortized easily, which he did tonight, sparingly to win the second act (6-2).

The public in support of Molcan

Never two without three. New set, new entry break. The Slovak, accusing the blows, did not even run anymore and let the balls fall into the net. It was the public who wanted more, sending clear signals to Molcan to re-motivate him and who even ended up relaunching the outsider with panache. He thanked them by finding the flaw in the German’s linear game a few times, until reaching out to them when he concluded the point to (finally) register a first game (4-1). But Zverev traced his road started barely two hours earlier and spun in the next round (6-1).
