Alexander Zverev knocks out Grigor Dimitrov to reach Roland-Garros quarter-finals

True to form, it was above all Grigor Dimitrov who made this match a one-sided encounter. Capable of the best and the worst, of splendid blows with his one-handed backhand like watering the Philippe-Chatrier court with unforced errors in all directions, the Bulgarian will only have played intermittently. An inconstancy that does not forgive against Zverev, who did not have to force his talent. Unable to win his first two service games, Dimitrov started playing when the first set was already folded, won in just over half an hour by Zverev (6-1, 32 min).

Dimitrov ruined everything in the second set

On a central court in the middle of the wind, Zverev will have had only one shot less well, in the middle of the second set. But when he was leading 4-2 with a break point in his favor, Dimitrov started to play Dimitrov, completely losing the thread of a set he had in hand. In no time, Zverev had just won fourteen points in a row, or rather Dimitrov had just scuttled himself (50 unforced errors over the whole match). Taking advantage of the offering on his fifth set point, the German fell two sets to nothing without being flamboyant.
