Alexander Zverev: First statement from the fired ex-coach Bruguera | Sports

Now the fired coach speaks!

After 14 months had Alexander Zverev (26) separated from coach Sergi Bruguera (52). Now the Spaniard speaks on the edge of French Open in Paris for the first time about the end. And he speaks like a gentleman.

Bruguera: “I wish him the best! I helped him and sooner or later he will get back in shape. Being out for eight months is really hard.”

Zverev had given a clear reason for the separation: “My father, I and Sergi do not have the same opinion on how I should play tennis after the injury. The differences in opinion are a little bigger. I had courage on the pitch before, I need that again. And there are several ways to get back there.”

Bruguera does not want to contradict this, but keeps his view of things to himself. “It was a decision of both of us. I don’t want to say anything about the reasons. He needs his rest now and has to concentrate on his matches.”
