Since March and its appearance before the CAS in the dispute between it and Watford over the Pape Gueye case, OM have been living with a sword of Damocles hanging over their heads. A serious “threat” of a recruitment ban on one or more Mercatos which had prompted Pablo Longoria to anticipate his large investments this winter.
OM will not be banned from recruitment before January 2024
While the CAS decision was expected for mid-May, OM is still without news from the body… And, while the French Mercato officially opened its doors this Saturday morning and until September 1 , the Marseille club can no longer be overtaken by the patrol.
Indeed, all Mercato started having to go to an end, if OM find themselves banned from recruitment by FIFA in the coming days, the sanction will only be applicable from January 2024. While a great upheaval is preparing this summer in the workforce, Pablo Longoria can really thank the slowness of the system.

To sum up
Pablo Longoria should indeed have free rein to lead OM’s Mercato market this summer. If he necessarily awaits the go of the DNCG and the validations of his new coach, the Marseille club will not be restrained by FIFA.
