Coach Oliver Glasner will leave Eintracht Frankfurt in the summer. A Bundesliga competitor is interested in a commitment.

Frankfurt/Mönchengladbach – The 34th Bundesliga matchday of the 2022/23 season was very emotional for Oliver Glasner, because the game against SC Freiburg was his last home game as head coach of Eintracht Frankfurt. After a bumpy first half of the season, the season ended with a happy ending. With the late win against the Breisgauer, the SBU bought the ticket for the European Cup. However, it is still unclear in which competition the eagles will start.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Glasner wants to win the cup

The final of the DFB Cup against RB Leipzig on Saturday (3 June) will be Glasner’s final game in the service of Eintracht Frankfurt. The Austrian wants to say goodbye to the banking metropolis with a title. It would be the second after last year’s Europa League triumph when Eintracht Frankfurt beat Glasgow Rangers on penalties in the final.

Glasner hasn’t wasted a thought on his farewell so far, because qualifying for international business via the Bundesliga was only the first step in the perfect end on the Main. “I take my hat off to this group. The reward is European football. There is hardly a city or a club that lives Europe like Eintracht – whether Champions League or Conference League. We’re, I’m not done yet – we want to win the trophy,” said the 48-year-old self-confidently.

But what happens after that? Like the portal Gladbachlive of the Express reported, Oliver Glasner has become the focus of Borussia Mönchengladbach. The team from the Lower Rhine has had a disappointing season and coach Daniel Farke is on the verge of being eliminated after just one season. So far, the club have not confirmed Farke’s dismissal, but it seems unlikely that the 46-year-old will be allowed to continue at the Lower Rhine.

Eintracht Frankfurt: Glasner in Mönchengladbach in conversation

“We definitely didn’t do 100 percent what we wanted. But we’re also a long way from seeing it as a horror season or a crash,” said Farke, who scored an average of just 1.28 points from 36 competitive games, before the last Bundesliga game against FC Augsburg.

Should Oliver Glasner sign for Borussia Mönchengladbach, he would go the same way as Adi Hütter once did. At that time, Hütter was released from Eintracht Frankfurt by an exit clause, this time Glasner would be free. Hütter failed miserably in Gladbach and had to leave after one season after finishing tenth in the Bundesliga like Farke. (smr)
