Volleyball – Women’s Team Opening Victory – Sport

The German women’s national volleyball team started the Nations League with a win. Coach Vital Heynen’s team beat the Netherlands 3-1 on Tuesday (25:21, 25:22, 20:25, 25:22). The best German player in Nagoya, Japan, was Hanna Orthmann, who, among other things, decided the first set with four points in a row, including three aces. The top 16 teams in the world for women and men play against each other in the Nations League at different venues over a period of six weeks. After twelve games per team, the eight best teams advance to the final round. The German women around captain Anna Pogany will play in Brasilia (Brazil) and Bangkok (Thailand) after the games in Nagoya. On June 8th, the men in Canada will start the tournament. The games will also award points for the world rankings, which can be crucial for qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics.
