“It’s been a year of hard work. You’re on the training ground every day and you give everything to experience something like that, unbelievable. We enjoyed it, the whole game, the whole year. I’m incredibly proud of the team.” National player Klara Bühl said on BR: “We are looking forward to the balcony, I can hardly wait. It will be a moment in life that you will never forget.”

The tired men and the bosses, agitated by the club’s internal mud fight, cheered in the stands, on the lawn the women celebrated a real football festival: Bayern Munich secured the champion double for the fourth time in the club’s history – and a huge party on the town hall balcony Marienplatz.

After the men, who watched on campus the day after their triumph in Cologne (2:1) in traditional costume and mostly with sunglasses, the women also achieved the necessary victory on the last day of the game – and how! With the gala about relegated Turbine Potsdam, the fifth championship after 1976, 2015, 2016 and 2021 was perfect. Bayern qualified directly for the group stage of the Champions League.

Saki Kumagai (4th), Lea Schüller (12th), an own goal by Anna Gerhardt (21st), Jovana Damjanovic (24th/30th), Georgia Stanway (32nd) and captain Lina Magull (37th) have already scored before the break against the battered bottom of the table. Carolin Simon (49th), Kumagai (52nd), Glodis Viggosdottir (75th) and Schüller (89th) made the highest win of the season for the team of Norwegian coach Alexander Straus perfect.

Captain Viktoria Schwalm (64th) was successful for Potsdam. National coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg presented the trophy – much to the delight of Bayern President Herbert Hainer, who cheered alongside Uli Hoeneß. The new CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen sat just as pleased behind the two.

Despite the success, the Munich women are facing a major upheaval. In addition to Kumagai, three other players were bid farewell. Department head Karin Danner is handing over her position to sports director Bianca Rech after 28 years. Katharina Naschenweng from Hoffenheim, the Danish world-class player Pernille Harder and her Swedish teammate Magdalena Eriksson will probably come from the English doubles winner FC Chelsea.

In Wolfsburg, Ewa Pajor (8th) and Dominique Janssen (44th, penalty kick) scored for the cup winners around top scorer Alexandra Popp in the new edition of the cup final. Judith Steinert (35th) equalized in the meantime. Second relegated next to Potsdam is newcomer SV Meppen. The women from Emsland lost 6-0 (3-0) at Eintracht Frankfurt, which saved 1. FC Köln and MSV Duisburg.
