The Kyoto León club won two gold medals in the Spanish Cup held at the Municipal Sports Pavilion in Orense, and in which judokas from Portugal, Asturias, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha, the Basque Country, Extremadura, Galicia and two judokas took part. Leonese representing Castilla y León.
On this occasion, the Galician Federation team was not reinforced with the Madrid judokas from the Brunete Club, (as in the Sector Phase) and the Kyoto Club from Leon, they demonstrated their level by winning all the contested matches.
Triumphs in up to 73 Kg and up to 90 Kg
In the weight of up to 73 kg, Chesco González García faced Mario Díaz Herrador, from Castilla la Mancha, in the first match, whom he defeated without difficulty. The second match was against David Ortis Rueda from Extremadura, whom he also defeated to reach the semifinals against Galician Mateo Rodríguez, beating him, to go to the final against the Basque Igor Colina Hernández, whom he defeated without difficulty, proclaiming himself champion of his weight.
Then it would be the turn of the other judoka from Kyoto Pablo Fernández Latorre, weighing up to 90 kg. He followed a similar path to his partner, defeating Henrique Sousa, from Portugal, in the first fight, to knock down Giorgi Sekhaniashvili in the next fight. from Galicia and face Alejandro Cobos Lechuga from Madrid in the final, whom he defeated cleanly, becoming champion of his category.
So with the two gold medals these only two judokas classified Castilla y León in second place behind the organizing Federation in the calculation by Autonomies.
