“Then why should I say no?”

In his second season at RB Leipzig, Dominik Szoboszlai took another step forward. After 45 competitive appearances, the 22-year-old has been involved in 22 goals. According to the statistics portal ‘fbref.com’, the high-class technician’s offensive actions result in 5.52 shots on goal per 90 minutes – making the Leipzig professional top of the Bundesliga league.

But it is unclear how long Szoboszlai will continue to lead the Saxons’ offensive. After hints a few weeks ago, the midfielder became clearer in an interview with the Hungarian news portal ‘Index.hu’ about a possible farewell in the summer.

“All options must be considered”

“If I can now take a step towards the top five or six clubs in Europe, should I say no to this challenge? I’ve never been that guy”so the frank words of Szoboszlai, “I’m in a very good position because I can play at a fantastic club. However, fifteen years from now, I don’t want to look back on my career as if I didn’t make the most of it.”

And further: “I have consciously built up my entire career so far, always reaching the next level on time. You can fall from a height and it’s rare that anyone gets one chance, let alone two, at the highest level of football.”

Finally, Szoboszlai adds a sentence that should make those responsible in Leipzig pay particular attention: “All options must be considered.” Whether an option also includes the fulfillment of the contract in Leipzig, which is valid until 2026, is likely to be questionable in view of the statements.
