The series “The Flash” will come to an end after almost a decade of broadcast

After almost a decade of broadcasts on the CW signal, The Flash -the fastest superhero in the world and favorite of millions played on TV by Grant Gustin- closes his final chapter in the Arrowverso. This week, the popular series based on the DC Comics character came to an end with its ninth and final season.

The fiction premiered in 2014 and was the second production that was part of the Arrowverso, the universe of a set of superhero programs on CW that was also made up of Arrow, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning and Batwoman. The adventure of the sprinter was the last program which was still airing, as the others were canceled or terminated organically. After the end, fans wonder if it will be the ultimate outcome for their hero.

In March 2022, the show was renewed for a ninth and final season, which began airing on February 8, 2023. Within the Arrowverse, The Flash is the longest-running series, surpassing even its predecessor, Arrow, for one season. The series finale aired on May 24, 2023, almost ten years after its debut.

The story follows Barry Allen, a crime scene investigator who gains superhuman speed. after a STAR Labs particle accelerator exploded near him causing other citizens to gain powers as well. He used his speed to fight crime and save Central City countless times from metahumans, the villains of the show.

For nine seasons, Flash has become one of the best superheroes on television. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Grant Gustin explained why the show ended before the tenth season: “A lot of people wanted us to go to 10 seasons, but in my opinion, we did it 10 years, it was in 2013 that I started as Barry Allen and we finished in 2023. We had done everything we we needed to do, the characters were in a good place and we had come to the conclusion”.
