Tennis star Nick Kyrgios (28) regularly makes headlines off the court. But this time involuntarily…

As “ABC Australia” reports, the Australian was involved in a crazy chase on Monday. Accordingly, he helped in his home country to capture a man.

The alleged perpetrator had previously apparently threatened Kyrgios’ mother Norlaila with a gun and then stolen the tennis star’s Tesla on top of it.

However, as the court documents show, the robber did not get far. Kyrgios was immediately informed by his mother and apparently could have tracked the perpetrator using the Tesla app.

The court documents also state that Kyrgios provided the police with updated information throughout the operation. He also remotely limited the vehicle’s speed to 80 km/h.

According to the police, officers from several police stations and a tactical unit from the federal police set up a cordon in Ainslie, a suburb of the capital Canberra. According to the documents, the officers blocked the car’s movement and removed it from the vehicle – about 30 minutes after the crime began.

It is further said that the man fiercely resisted being arrested and being handcuffed. The police then stunned him with a taser.

As the court learned, he suffered multiple injuries and was taken to a hospital in Canberra. He was denied bail.

Kyrgios, who had attracted negative attention on the tennis court several times in the past and is therefore referred to as a “tennis bully”, is currently injured. A knee injury forces him to watch. Last year he had reached the final of Wimbledon and the quarterfinals of the US Open.
