Tennis player hits the referee’s chair

At the tennis tournament in Lyon, the Swedish player Mikael Ymer hit the referee’s chair with his racket. He was disqualified.

At the Lyon Open, Swede Mikael Ymer was disqualified after a freak out. He can not move into the quarterfinals of the tennis tournament. The player was upset about a referee’s decision.

In the eleventh game of the first set, a point was awarded when the score was 30-30 against the Swede. The referee had insisted that Ymer touched the ball before it went wide. He wanted the referee to check the point of impact, but he refused.

When opponent Arthur Fils then scored with a backhand in the next game, Ymer freaked out. The 53rd in the world went towards his bench but then picked up his racquet and slammed it into the referee’s chair. As a result, he was disqualified. Arthur Fils advances to the next round and will face the winner of the match between Felix Auger-Aliassime and Llamas Ruiz.
