Successful closing of the Patagonian Integration Games

This Sunday, with the awards in sports such as wrestling, taekwondo and climbing, the competition culminated in the Patagonian Integration Games that were held in Puerto Madryn for its 2nd Edition.

The contest brought together more than 700 athletes from different provinces of Patagonia Argentina, in a participatory event.

This past Sunday at noon, the second edition of the Patagonian Integration Games, which were organized by Chubut Deportes and which had the support of the Government of Chubut, concluded in the city of Puerto Madryn.

More than 700 young people from the Patagonian provinces of our country participated in the event, who for three days competed in the disciplines table tennis, badminton, archery (these three also in adapted modality), Olympic lifting, Olympic wrestling, taekwondo, artistic gymnastics, tennis and climbing.

Although the event was developed in a participatory way, that is, with the delivery of medals in each of the disciplines, but without consecrating a general champion, the delegation of our province closed its participation with a very good performance and a large number of medals. .

Chubut tennis ended its participation in an excellent way. Joaquín Vulcano and Guadalupe María took gold after winning the mixed doubles final. In addition, in women’s singles, Guadalupe Marina won gold after defeating the representative of Neuquén; and the female duo, made up of Guadalupe Marina and Lucía Maldonado, also won the gold medal.

In conventional archery, Santiago Ibáñez won the gold medal among boys and Eileen Jones with the silver medal in women under-15. In the team competition, under-17 category, Otoniel Hernández and Olivia Campos medaled silver, as well as Eilen Jones and Santiago Ibáñez in the under-15 category. In addition, in adapted, Kevin Furci also reached first place in his category.

The wrestling contest culminated in the team competition and Chubut, which excelled again, took first place and, therefore, with the gold medal. The provincial team was made up of Natalia Proboste (50kg free), Tatiana Reinoso (60kg free), Lucas Yodko (55kg free) and Dylan Monteros (60kg Greco-Roman).

In taekwondo there was also a day full of fighting that culminated in three podiums for our province. Gabriel Van Der Merwe (63kg) and Martina Guadalupe Vargas (49kg) achieved silver medals, while Thiago Cuello (73kg) garnered bronze.

In badminton, Juan Cruz de la Canal and Alejandro Maciel took third place in doubles and, finally, in sports climbing, a discipline that debuted in these games, there was a silver medal for Vera Baldini among the ladies, being the only one from Chubut. on the podium.

In this way, this second edition of the Patagonian Integration Games closed with a more than positive balance, awaiting its continuity next year, in the province of Neuquén.
