sensation! Qualifikant bowls Medvedev aus Roland-Garros

World number two Daniil Medvedev fails at the French Open in Paris in the first round.

The 27-year-old Russian, who started the race in Roland-Garros as one of the title favorites, fails at his opening hurdle, the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild. The number 172 in the world, who came into the main draw via qualification, beats Medvedev after more than four hours of play 7: 6 (5), 6: 7 (6), 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4.

Medvedev actually started the tournament with the best conditions. The Russian won his first clay court title in this category at the Masters tournament in Rome a week ago. For the 23-year-old Brazilian Seyboth Wild, who has only won one title at ATP level so far, it was his first match ever in a Grand Slam main draw.

Zverev and Ruud on

Alexander Zverev also clearly has trouble with the South African Lloyd Harris (ATP/294), but he can easily defeat the long-injured tour returnee. The German needed just under three hours to win 7: 6(6), 7: 6(0), 6: 1.

Fourth seeded Norwegian Casper Ruud is also one lap further. The 24-year-old from Oslo has no difficulties with the Swedish qualifier Elias Ymer and clearly wins 6: 4, 6: 3, 6: 2.

In round two, Zverev meets Slovakian Alex Molcan (ATP/86), Ruud meets qualifier Giulio Zeppieri (ITA/129).
