World number two Daniil Medvedev fails at the French Open in Paris in the first round.
The 27-year-old Russian, who started the race in Roland-Garros as one of the title favorites, fails at his opening hurdle, the Brazilian Thiago Seyboth Wild. The number 172 in the world, who came into the main draw via qualification, beats Medvedev after more than four hours of play 7: 6 (5), 6: 7 (6), 2: 6, 6: 3, 6: 4.
Medvedev actually started the tournament with the best conditions. The Russian won his first clay court title in this category at the Masters tournament in Rome a week ago.
