Santa Tecla one victory away from the Major League Basketball Championship / INDES El Salvador
Santa Tecla defeated Cojute BC 98-87 at the Cojutepeque City Hall Gym and took a 2-0 lead in the final series of the 2023 Tigo Sports Cup Opening Tournament of the Major League Basketball, which is the best of five games.
The third game will be played on Saturday at 7:30 pm, at the Adolfo Pineda Municipal Gymnasium and if it wins, the Tecleño team will be proclaimed LMB champion under the technical direction of former selected Ernesto “Colocó” Rodríguez.
The Cuban Yoel Cubillas and Christopher Blake were once again decisive players in the second game, contributing 24 and 22 points, respectively. The Caribbean player also recorded 26 rebounds on his account.
He also had a good night, Marquise Mosley scoring 19 points and was accompanied by Adonis López, with 15 points.
Encouraged by their fans, Cojute once again showed their profile as a warrior team and, led by Jeremy Agosto, Shian Bradshaw and Troidel Carter, maintained a good performance, although in the end it was not enough to take victory on their court.
Agosto finished the game with 23 points on his account and Bradshaw contributed 22 in a duel that was even and intense.
In the first period Cojute and ITD Santa Tecla closed with 27-27 and it was not until the second episode that the hosts managed to make a minimal difference in the score with 50-48.
For the third period, the Tekeños showed better efficiency under the board and managed to reverse the score with a 66-56, which with five minutes left to finish the fourth became 72-61 and the parrots closed it with a 69- 80.
Santa Tecla managed to maintain the 11-point advantage against a Cojute that faced the last period with greater determination, but the effort was not enough to win at home and they will reach the third game without a margin of error, while those led by Ernesto ” Colocho” Rodríguez are one step away from the LMB crown.
