When Guerreiro’s contract expires this summer, the defensive player’s BVB career will also come to an end. “After seven great years it is time that I say goodbye to all of you with a lot of sadness,” wrote the Portugal international on his Instagram channel.
“I’ve always been myself as I’ve learned a lot and kept improving here, and I will never forget the love I’ve received from the fans and my teammates over these seven years,” continued Guerreiro. Saying goodbye to Dortmund was the “most difficult of my career”.
In the summer of 2016, when he was 22 at the time, he came to the Ruhr area from FC Lorient in France. With BVB he celebrated victory in the DFB Cup twice and was the winner of the Super Cup once.
